Over the years bassist Bill Dickens has recorded and performed with Chaka Kahn, Bernie Worrell, Janet Jackson, Pat Metheny, Ramsey Lewis, Grover Washington, Al Dimeola, and many others. On October 21, Ropeadope released his debut solo recording Tha Truth (which is available for order via iTunes and Bandcamp).

The album includes a guest appearance by Mike Gordon and today we feature that track.

Dickens explains, “Mike and I met at Golden Gate Park … Leo (Nocentelli) introduced us. I watched Phish play to 100,000 from the side of the stage, it was really something – crazy, man. We talked about working together, so Mike sent me a track that he and his daughter wrote – ‘I Don’t Want To’ was the title. I took the track and laid down the groove in Chicago, with Jim Giffords on drums. Mike finished it with vocals, bass, and guitar at his spot.”
