Mark Dronge, founder of DR Strings, passed away on May 11. He was 83 years old.
Dronge was the president of DR Strings and a veteran of the MI industry. Dronge worked alongside his father, who sold his music store in 1948, and, with the money from the sale, funded the Guild Guitar Company’s launch in 1952. Dronge started working at the Guild Guitar factory at the age of 14 and developed an interest in the MI business.
Dronge went on to start DR Strings more than 30 years ago, using knowledge from his days in the Guild Guitar factory.
Bill and his friends in the industry cannot help but to feel the void of Marc D.s passing.Bill was on the phone with Jeff Berlin for a few hour reminiscing the good times they all spent together.
